Novel synopsis
(Edited from author’s synopsis on jjwxc)
Xue Cuo, rebellious prodigy and eldest senior brother of Tianyi Sect, never meant to stand out. With a tiger mum, an absent-minded Daoist father, and a boss who keeps “resurrecting” in the most Buddhist of ways, his journey through the chaotic world of cultivation has been anything but smooth.
But in a realm rife with bloodshed, betrayal, and divine ambition, Xue Cuo’s knack for attracting trouble (and admirers) proves unmatched. All he wanted was to quietly level up and cultivate immortality. Instead, he ends up with a chorus of junior disciples trailing after him, calling him “Eldest Shixiong,” and a tiger demon king who can’t seem to decide whether he wants to kill him… or kiss him.
Xue Cuo: Level up. Cultivate immortality. Become a boss.
The Tiger Demon King: I’ll kill you. (wall slam) This life, I will surpass you. (leans in close) You’d better not die at anyone else’s hands. (nose to nose)
Xue Cuo: Aaaah! You absolute pervert!
Snow falls thick over the human world.
Blankets a gravestone.
The tomb bears no name. A vine-choked tree stands beside it. The sky is bitter cold, the land is split and silent, human presence scarce.
A little demon asks his king,
“Your Majesty, we come here every day. Just who are we visiting?”
Snow dusts the king’s long lashes. He replies,
“My number one enemy in the world.”
And though an enemy, the king comes without fail—clearing snow, offering wine, burning incense. In time, he takes on his original form and keeps vigil beside the stone.
Another bitter winter.
Xue Cuo returns to dig up his own grave.
Snow crowns his head as he digs with enthusiasm—
Until, all at once, the snowdrift atop the grave stirs. A single beast’s eye peeks through.
Xue Cuo and the king both freeze.
The wind rises.
Snowflakes flutter and fall.
In a world of white, two fates stare each other down.
Quirky, sharp-tongued shixiong x Dashing tiger demon king
Xue Cuo × Yin Feixue
(Bottom appears in the human realm arc.)
【Reading Notes】
- Very slow-burn, plot-driven. Begins from the gong’s childhood.
